Marc Adelson, J.D., is Chief Legal & Administrative Officer of Curai Health, a virtual healthcare company that pairs artificial intelligence with clinical expertise to deliver affordable, high-quality care across a 50-state network of virtual clinics. As Curai’s first legal hire, he built the company’s legal function from the ground up and today leads legal, privacy, compliance, regulatory affairs, and intellectual property, in addition to serving as executive leader of the company’s human resources function. Marc co-chairs Curai’s AI Governance Committee, led the company’s adoption of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and directs its engagement with regulators, trade associations, and policymakers on the rules that will govern AI-enabled care.
Before joining Curai in 2024, Marc spent 13 years at Teladoc Health (NYSE: TDOC), the world’s largest virtual care company, most recently as Deputy Chief Legal Officer and Global Chief Compliance Officer. He built and led a 40-person global team spanning legal, privacy, compliance, and risk management; redesigned the company’s ethics and compliance program to industry-leading standards; and led enterprise-wide integration following the $18 billion acquisition of Livongo and the $1 billion acquisition of InTouch Health. He also co-founded the Institute for Patient Safety & Quality in Virtual Care. Earlier, as Teladoc’s Chief Privacy Officer and Corporate Counsel, he was the company’s lead negotiator on contracts with national and regional health plans and Fortune 100 employers, and served as primary legal counsel to its U.S. group health business.
Marc’s earlier career spans health insurance, reinsurance, and managed care, with senior roles at Ability Resources, Centre Solutions (a Zurich Financial Services subsidiary), Oxford Health Plans, and MultiPlan. That background gives him an unusual combination of legal, regulatory, and commercial fluency in how healthcare is financed and delivered.
Marc serves on the Board of Directors of the American Telemedicine Association, where he is Treasurer, and previously served on the board of Skylight Health Group. He holds a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School and a B.A. in Biology from Lafayette College, and is a member of the New York State Bar.
